A Filton primary school is delighted to have maintained its ‘good’ Ofsted rating.
Following its inspection in May, the education watchdog praised Charborough Road Primary School as being “warm, welcoming and inclusive” with a “well-designed and rich curriculum”.
Pupils were described as confident, gregarious, and most importantly, happy and safe.
The school’s commitment to inclusivity was commended, with children applauded for their caring nature and celebrating differences.
Speaking about the curriculum, Ofsted wrote in the report: “Leaders are ambitious for all pupils. They have spent considerable time researching principles around education to help them create a curriculum that suits the needs of pupils within their school.”
Charborough Road’s approach to reading was highly praised, and pupils are encouraged to “read widely”.
As soon as children join Reception, they start learning to read, and throughout the school, “pupils learn to read fluently and confidently”. A notable strength of the school is its dedication to broadening pupils’ personal development.
The report says: “Leaders carefully weave into the curriculum opportunities for pupils to take part in exciting trips and visits, such as to museums and theatres”.
Pupils are also enthusiastic about participating in sports clubs, such as netball and athletics, Ofsted says.
The school is part of the Olympus Academy Trust and a spokesperson said: We are delighted to announce that Charborough Road Primary School was inspected in May and after receiving the inspection we can confirm that we continue to be a ‘good’ school.
“All areas of the school received positive affirmation, with our work on early years and special educational needs seen as significant strengths.”
“Well done to Headteacher, Matt Lankester all his staff, governors, learners and all families associated with the school for this positive outcome.”
Since its initial ‘good’ Ofsted rating in November 2017, the school appointed Mr Lankester.
The school also has an on-site nursery, catering for children from three-years-old.
