Abbeywood Community School’s post-16 students have been celebrating another year of excellent results and achieving places at top universities and apprenticeships.
At A-level, outcomes have improved again, with over 50% of all grades at A-B and 85% of grades at A-C.
As always, there have been some outstanding individual results.
Students have been successful in gaining places at Russell Group universities and degree apprenticeships in local engineering companies such as GKN and Airbus.
Headteacher, Ben Dilley, expressed his pride in the students’ achievements: “We are absolutely delighted with this year’s A-level and vocational results. They are a testament to the incredible hard work of our students, the unwavering support of their families, and the dedication of our staff.
“We would like to wish everyone receiving their results today every success in whatever they choose to do next.”
Some particularly notable individual achievements include:
Madeline Clark who achieved an A*s in Geography, Psychology and Criminology.
Darcy Purnell, A*s in Mathematics and Further Mathematics, and As in Physics and Chemistry.
Daniel Fraser attained A* in English Language, As in History and Psychology and an A* in Extended Project, which have earned him a place at Warwick University.
Grace Hooper is going to Cardiff University after obtaining A* in Sociology A* and As in Biology and English Language
Freddie Woods, who is off to UWE, achieved a Distinction* in Business a Distinction in Engineering and an A in Design & Technology.
Dave Baker, Olympus Academy Trust CEO, said: “It is easy to forget that this cohort of students had a challenging experience because of the Covid-19 pandemic – this makes their achievements all the more impressive. I would also like to thank and pay tribute to our dedicated staff.”
