Dan Harris has been representing residents in Conygre since October 2023 and has now joined the Green Party

Councillor Dan Harris has joined the Green Party after leaving Labour.
As previously reported by the Filtonvoice, Mr Harris’ exit from the Labour Party earlier this year comes after “a slow fuse was lit”.
The Conygre councillor stated that the direction of Labour’s leadership nationally along with the party’s councillors failing to serve local people contributed to his departure.
The news comes after Cllr Harris sat as an independent candidate for three months.
He said: “I have been proud to work hard for residents in Filton since October 2023, listening to people all the time and working on their concerns, securing funding for Filton Hill Primary School, and helping to drive the Conygre Regeneration Project. I have seen the impact cuts to local government funding has had on our community and the challenges every day people face, and I am convinced that the Green Party understands what needs to be done to turn this around for Filton and the country.
“I am looking forward to be working with a growing team who are putting hope back on the agenda.”
He joins a growing number of elected Greens on town and parish councils across South Gloucestershire.
In June this year, the Green Party gained their first district councillor, Sean Rhodes, another defection from the Labour Party.
