Abbeywood Community School continues to be a good school, a recent Ofsted inspection has found.
The local secondary school was judged ‘good’ in all areas, with inspectors praising pupils’ behaviour, and the school’s high expectations.
In the report, inspectors noted: “Pupils thrive at Abbeywood Community School. They value the warm, supportive relationships they have with members of staff. The school has high expectations.”
Ofsted added: “Pupils behave very well. They demonstrate empathy, politeness and kindness towards each other.”
The vision of the leadership and “relentless focus on developing the quality of education” shared by staff was celebrated.
Abbeywood is currently undergoing an expansion programme, with a new 10-classroom building due to be completed for January 2026, in addition to other expansion works in the existing building.
The school currently has 1,281 pupils on roll, from year 7 to year 13 and the building expansion is to accommodate a move from 180 to 240 students per year group.
Headteacher Ben Dilley, said: “The report reflects what happens at Abbeywood on a daily basis. On behalf of the leadership team and governing body, I would like to thank staff, students, governors and the Abbeywood community for their continued support and commitment to ensure that, as a staff body, we deliver the very best learning experiences for our learners.”
Dave Baker, CEO of the Olympus Academy Trust added: “This is a high point for Abbeywood Community School in its improvement journey since joining the Olympus Academy Trust at the start of 2013.
“I offer my thanks and congratulations to Abbeywood’s staff, students, governors and community for all that has been achieved under Ben Dilley’s leadership and thanks also to the wider Olympus staff team and trustees for their support for the school.”
