Local kickboxers Liam Holden and Freddie Thompson-Coles, returned home to Filton with heavier suitcases, after taking home gold in the Italian World Cup.
Club GB Fit’s Team Bristol collectively won three gold medals, one silver and two bronze in March at the tournament held in Jesolo, Venice.
The Filton residents took home gold alongside teammate, Brandon Sun.
Sharon Gill, coach of GB Fit, is also from Filton. She said: “A young team of nine kickboxers from Bristol travelled to Italy to compete at the Italian World Cup tournament and came away with lots of silverware.
“The standard and level of the tournament was amazing with no less than 4,500 entries taking part with divisions stacked out.”
The dedicated team trains on Merton Road, Horfield and will soon be travelling to Croatia to compete in the European Cup Varazdin Open 2026, on April 30.
But, for Liam it doesn’t stop there.
He will be making his Total Kombat debut at the Liverpool Olympia as part of TK04.
The new promotion is focused on fast-paced stand-up striking, with significant exposure being streamed on ITVX.
The event takes place on Saturday, June 13.
