A Filton Lego enthusiast is set to showcase their block-building expertise beneath the Concorde this July.

The young builder, known as @robricks24 on Instagram, has been designing and constructing Gaudí’s La Sagrada Familia entirely out of Lego for the past 18 months.

The dedication paid off last October, when the 160-centimetre sculpture of the Barcelona church was awarded “Best in Show” at Dublin Brick Con.

Soon, the Lego masterpiece will be exhibited closer to home, beneath the left engine of Concorde at the Aerospace Museum.

The intricate design features lighting effects and it’s hoped they will shine even more impressively underneath the iconic aircraft, deeply rooted in Filton’s history.

The two-day Lego exhibition, Supersonic Brick Show, running from July 4-5, will be one of the largest in the southwest of England.

The sculpture will be accompanied by other Lego creations by fellow GertLUG members, Bristol’s local Lego group.

The non-profit organisation donates all the proceeds from their shows to various charities. Since forming in 2017, GertLUG has raised over £130,000.

But for @robricks24, the exhibitions don’t stop there. The award-winning Lego sculpture is confirmed to be displayed at a further five exhibitions over the next six months.

As a “life-long Lego fan”, @robricks24 has already showcased their work at ten exhibitions across the country, and plans to continue displaying the La Sagrada Familia sculpture and other work over the coming years.
