Filton Festival prepares for take-off

High-flying fun — and a World Record attempt — can be expected at this year’s Filton Festival as it prepares to mark 50 years since the first commercial flight of the Concorde and 25 years of the popular community event.

On Sunday, July 5, festival-goers can enjoy a packed day of live music, family activities and aptly themed activities such as an RC plane display and airshow, birds of prey and hot air balloons (weather dependent). The festival is free to attend.

Organisers, Deryncoch, have also planned to break a World Record for the most people pretending to be an aeroplane at the same time.

Town clerk Simon Davies said: “Deryncoch is going to deliver a fantastic festival, which everyone is welcome to attend.”

Local kickboxing champion, Liam Holden, will be kicking off the festival at 11am.

With such a jam-packed line- up, the festival has been split into two stages, a main stage and a second stage with lots of local talent.
